The closing ceremony of the World Federation of Motor Sports (FIA) World Rally Championship is approaching, with the 24-hour Le Mans race taking place on June 15-16.

The BMW M Motorsport announced the names of the six drivers who will drive the BMW M8 GTE for the BMW Team MTEK on the Sarthe circuit.

In addition to the usual drivers, Martin Tomsic (Germany), Nick Patrick (Netherlands), Antonio Felix da Costa (Portugal) and Augusto Varfos (Brazil), the BMW drivers will be joined by Philippe Eng (Austria) and Jesse Kron (Finland).

"The 24-hour Le Mans is the world's biggest race and the most important event of the season," said Jens Markward, BMW Motorsport Manager. This may apply to the race this year more than ever before.

Of course, we celebrate a number of special occasions. We celebrate the 20th anniversary of winning the BMW V12 LMR, and the 80th anniversary of our participation here in the BMW 328. All we want is to give our followers something special, so we are sharing two historic cars in Le Mans. From the sporting point of view, we are in an excellent position with regard to the drivers who will drive the BMW M8 GTE.

The four regular drivers, Martin, Knuck, Antonio, and Augusto climbed to the podium during the World Endurance Championship. Philip and Jesse, both experienced drivers with the BMW M8 GTE, join them and learn what is required of them to succeed in the Jets race. We look forward to the Le Mans race and we are entering the final phase of preparations for the event. "

The driver will join Tomschik and Katsberg in the BMW M GTE # 81, as he did during the 24-hour Le Mans race last year. The Austrian driver leads BMW at the German Tour and is a regular GT driver with the BMW Motorsport team. In January, he won the GTLM in the 24-hour Daytona (USA) race, when he took part alongside Varfos.

Finnish driver Kron, for the first time in the Le Mans race this year. Jesse Kron, the best driver in the 2014 BMW Motorsport, is a regular driver with the BMW Team RLL at the IMSA in the United States and is known as a GT racing driver. The cockpit will be shared alongside Felix de Costa and Varfos in the BMW M8 GTE # 82.

BMW Team MTEK is preparing to take part in the official test day at Le Mans on Sunday (June 2nd). The race weekend begins on Saturday (June 9th) for technical inspection of cars in the city center, with a 24-hour race starting at 15:00 on Saturday (June 15th).
